What types of forklift batteries are there?

The right battery depends on the vehicle type, operating time, and space available. Two types of traction batteries have become established:

PzS batteries – the industry standard for forklifts

PzS forklift batteriesCells with armor plate are robust, cycle-resistant, and ideal for intensive use. They contain liquid electrolyte and require regular maintenance, such as refilling with water.

PzB batteries – compact solution for small industrial trucks

PzB batteriesare more compact and fit into smaller forklifts or reach trucks. They are also designed as traction batteries, but specifically for tight installation spaces.

Structure and function of forklift batteries

OneForklift batteryconsists of series-connected cells, usually 24V, 48V or 80V, depending on the forklift model. Each cell delivers around 2V and contains liquidelectrolytebased on sulfuric acid.UnloadingThe battery converts chemical energy into electrical energy,Chargethis process is reversed.

Service life and proper handling

ThelifeThe lifespan of your forklift battery depends heavily on usage. For long operating times, we recommend:

1. The batterynot deep discharged(less than 20% remaining charge)
2. Daily full chargingwhen used
3. Use of asuitable chargeraccording to DIN
4. Regular maintenance of the electrolyte level
5. Ideal storage temperature between 10 and 30 °C
